Guidance For Undergraduate Non-Majors
There are many computer science courses without prerequisites that are open to all students across the university. For guidance on course selection, we offer the following tools:
Summary of Entry-Level Computer Science Courses: An overview of all computer science courses offered that have no prerequisites, including information on the academic focus of the course as well as the amount and type of work involved.
Advanced Placement: Students earning a 4 or 5 on the AB Computer Science AP exam are awarded 3 units of credit equivalent to CSE 126, and may continue their study of computer science in CSE131X, the accelerated version of the introductory course. However, all students with a strong computer science background, including those awarded AP credit, are invited to take the Computer Science Placement Exam during orientation week to determine proper placement.
More Guidance: If you have any questions, please stop by Bryan 509C or set up an appointment with Dr. Sally Goldman (sg@cse.wustl.edu; (314) 935-7545). Dr. Goldman can help you set up a course sequence to meet your individual needs. If you are considering a 2nd major, see this list of faculty contacts to consult with a CSE faculty member who is familiar with your primary field and can help you tailor an academic program to best combine computer science with your major area.
